Christiani
Betty-Jo
Christiani graduated from McGill University with a degree in
Music Education and has pursued special studies in the Kodaly Concept
of Music Education in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and in Kecskemet, Hungary.
Betty-Jo is founder and Music Director of the South Shore Children's Chorus,
and has been a music specialist with the Riverside School Board for 30
years. In 1984, the Jubilee School Choir made an LP recording entitled
"When Children Join Hands and Sing" under her direction.
Betty-Jo
was the studio teacher for "Making Music Two", a series of educational
broadcasts produced by the Quebec Department of Education and Radio Quebec.
She has given workshops and demonstrations in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland,
Quebec and Saskatchewan. She has taught summer courses at the University
of Ottawa for elementary school music teachers. In March 2007, Betty-Jo
was guest conductor for the Vermont Children's Honour Choir Festival sponsored by
the Vermont Chapter of the American Choral Director's Association
She
has sung in the choir of the Church of St. Andrew & St. Paul in Montreal
and sings in the St. Lambert Choral Society.
Accompanist - Ron
Bourne
Ron
Bourne graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Music degree
(1978) and a Diploma in Music Education (1981). From 1978-1994 he was
the organist and choir director at All Saints' Anglican Church in Verdun,
Quebec, from 1994-1999 he was Director of Music at St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church, St. Lambert, Quebec and from 1999, organist and choir director
at St. Lambert United Church, St- Lambert, Quebec. He has worked extensively
as a piano accompanist for choirs, singers and instrumentalists; especially
with the South Shore Children's Chorus, since its inception in 1984, The
Study School Choir in Westmount, Quebec and the Jubilee School Choir in
Greenfield Park.
For
15 years, he has been involved with the Westmount Ballet and Jazz Ballet
Co-op as accompanist, music arranger and co-ordinator for all productions.
He is a professional chorister with the St. Lambert Choral Society.
Assistant conductor - Jeanette Wong
Jeanette Wong has been directing the training choir of the South Shore Children's Chorus since 2002. A graduate of the Faculty of Music of McGill University, she has sung in many different choirs: The Women's Chorale and the Concert Choir at McGill University ; New Earth Voices; Choeur Classique de Montréal and the St. Lambert Choral Societ.
As a certified Suzuki Piano teacher since 2004, Jeanette focuses her teaching on young Suzuki students of 4 - 6 years old. She is currently teaching at the McGill Music Conservatory and has her own private studio. In February 2006, Jeanette led a two-day choral session at the Suzuki Winter Workshop in Montreal , promoting choral singing. She became the organist of St. Lawrence Church in Lasalle in September 2006 and directs their senior and junior choirs.
